IoES Scholarships for UCLA Environmental Science majors

Information, instructions, and application materials for students to apply for the Glickfeld Family Scholarship and the Greenspan Family Scholarship.

IoES Scholarships for UCLA Environmental Science majors

The Institute of the Environment and Sustainability is pleased to again offer the Glickfeld Family Scholarship and the Greenspan Family Scholarship for 2013-14 to assist Environmental Science majors at UCLA. These scholarships have been established by great supporters of the IoES specifically for Environmental Science majors.

The Glickfeld Family Scholarship was started in 2010 by the IoES’s Assistant Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives, Madelyn Glickfeld, and her husband Bruce, who are offering the scholarship because, Madelyn says, "We are very committed to UCLA and the Environmental Science Major at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. Students at this great public university, UCLA, need financial assistance now more than at any time in the past.”

The Greenspan Family Scholarship began in 2011, when Ethan Greenspan, a member of the community who often attends IoES events, was inspired by seeing the Glickfeld Scholarship offered. Greenspan’s enthusiasm for studying the natural world along with his concern over its future brought him to support the budding scientists, environmentalists, and leaders in the IoES. “I’m jazzed to support something I couldn’t do, in the hopes that these students will be better stewards of the Earth and will be passionate about making the natural world a better place.”
