Santa Monica Baykeeper invites YOU to our DrainWatch information and basic training session. Come meet Baykeeper staff and current volunteers and learn about how you can become a VOLUNTEER CITIZEN MONITOR for our new DrainWatch program! Go through DrainWatch basic training and be ready to join us on Ballona Creek for our October sampling event.

• What: DrainWatch Presentation followed by a basic training which will cover: the DrainWatch manual, photo catalogue, sampling kit, how to take chemical parameters and water sampling techniques.
The DrainWatch program helps educate citizens about the impact of urban runoff on our local beaches, rivers and coastal waters. You will be trained in hands-on monitoring, data collection, water sampling techniques and lab skills needed to assess the damage caused by urban runoff and other contaminants. You will learn about the sources and ramifications of storm water pollution, the Clean Water Act, and how your efforts as a DrainWatch volunteer help to enforce and strengthen regulations.
