Strategies to Accelerate the Development of the Wilshire Subway
What you can do to help implement the Measure R 30-year plan in 10 years!
Monday, December 14, 2009
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Los Angeles County Museum of Art
5905 Wilshire Blvd.
LACMA attracts nearly 1 million people every year to its Miracle Mile location at the corner of Wilshire Blvd and Fairfax Ave and over the years traffic has become a barrier in keeping some of those visitors away. Understandably, the museum has been engaged in supporting and promoting the Subway to the Sea- a subway extension that will go west down Wilshire Blvd.
While supporting the subway is one of our strategic initiatives to make LACMA more accessible, understanding and accelerating our region’s plan for a coherent transportation system has become core to our ability to plan for LACMA’s growth in the future. Believing that other businesses in Los Angeles “need to know” how projects like the Wilshire Subway will affect their futures and what steps business can take to help move these projects forward, LACMA has joined with MOVE LA, a business, labor and environmental coalition dedicated to improving transportation in Los Angeles County, to host a discussion with transportation leaders.
Please join me and other representatives from Wilshire corridor businesses, other key regional business, institutional, educational and cultural representatives at LACMA for a presentation and discussion with representatives of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, as well as City and County government representatives, regarding how our community can accelerate the development of the subway and other transportation projects funded by the recently voter-approved Measure R. This meeting is being organized and co-hosted by Move LA, who have been providing leadership in solving transportation issues in Los Angeles.
If you’d like to attend, please RSVP by calling the LACMA Special Event Office at 323-857-4789 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m looking forward to meeting you and to hearing what each of us can do to make these important transportation projects happen.
