Omar I. Asensio is a doctoral student and NSF IGERT fellow at UCLA.

Omar is currently studying incentives to motivate energy conservation. He is involved in field experiments to evaluate both monetary and non-monetary incentives, such as social norms.

Prior to starting his doctoral studies, Omar worked in corporate strategy, marketing and R&D as a practitioner within a Fortune 500 company, where he led global sustainability and technology development projects across North America and Europe. Omar began his career as a research chemist and chemical engineer in solar photovoltaics (PV), scaling up renewable energy technologies from lab to early-stage commercialization. In prior research, he focused on clean energy R&D, scale-up and technology transfer activities under U.S Government contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD).

Omar is a member of the Academy of Management, a national scholar of the American Chemical Society, and a summer 2010 fellow of the American Economic Association. His doctoral studies at UCLA are currently funded by the National Science Foundation.
