Action Research Teams
Action Research Teams (ART) is a student-run program held during winter and spring quarters with the goal of initiating dialogue, conducting research, and enacting change in sustainability by bringing together students, faculty, and administration.

Students are encouraged to take what they learned about global issues in the fall Lecture Series and apply it on a local level to UCLA's sustainability issues. Students, faculty, and administration, are matched up based on mutual sustainability interests and collaboratively pursue projects leading to some brilliantly successful sustainable progress.
Teams in the past have worked in areas such as eco-friendly landscaping, waste stream management, and sustainable food practices. In its 5th successful year, ART is a truly campus-wide outreach - just this year alone, teams are working with the UCLA Medical Center, the UCLA Recreation and Transportation Departments, and holding a pilot project for instituting composting on campus, with the full support of ASUCLA and a $20,000 grant from The Green Initiative Fund. Teams are made up of two student leaders, three or four student members and one or two UCLA faculty or staff as stakeholders. Applications are available in Fall Quarter, generally during November.
