Abstract

To realize the full potential of Smart Grids and energy efficiency new business models are required which are tailored to different needs of different customer segments and help customers to engage with these new technologies. We present research based on lab and field experiments that explores how different interventions based on punishment and reward, or inducing hypocrisy conditions increase consumer acceptance of Demand Response programs and energy conservation.
