Stories to Watch
A special event presented by the World Resources Institute and Institute of Environment and Sustainability.
Tuesday, January 28, 2014
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
UCLA Faculty Center
Called “Stories to Watch,” WRI President and CEO Dr. Andrew Steer will describe the top environmental and sustainability stories - backed up by data and analysis - that will likely emerge in 2014 – based on the best available evidence and observation. Now in its 11th year, “Stories to Watch” reflects the thinking of WRI’s outstanding staff experts and many of its worldwide partners. “Stories to Watch” has been a highly productive forum for WRI to engage with experts on our issues and to build bridges between WRI and academia, government, business, and civil society. We are very excited about bringing the program to UCLA.
Dr. Steer’s presentation will be followed by discussion moderated by IoES Director Glen MacDonald. This section of the event is always lively, and we would very much welcome your ideas and participation. Topics will likely include: political elections in Brazil, EU, India, and US and corresponding impacts on environmental policy; US rules on coal; new climate economics research; Ban Ki-moon’s UN climate summit; Bonn Challenge 2.0 on forest restoration, among others.
Here is a link to last year’s program, which kicked off at the National Press Club in Washington, DC: http://www.wri.org/event/2013/01/stories-watch-2013. For more information about WRI and Dr. Andrew Steer, please click here.
WRI and IoES are delighted to bring this event to UCLA and we look forward to an engaging discussion.
