The UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) seeks an Adjunct Professor at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will contribute to the research, educational, and outreach activities of the IoES. This position involves lecturing and conducting research on the ecological, climatic, and anthropogenic influences of infectious diseases and the hosts that carry them. Candidates should have a working knowledge of species distribution modeling, climate change and it influence on these models, and the ecology and evolutionary biology of potential hosts (primarily avian diseases including West Nile virus, malaria, and influenza). Candidates should also be able to conduct phylogenetic analyses on both hosts and parasites to investigate the role of co-speciation in hosts and parasites. The successful candidate will become a member of the interdisciplinary Center for Tropical Research at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
