Letter from the Editor
A message from Institute of the Environment and Sustainability Newsletter Publisher Karen Lefkowitz

Earth tilts as it moves around the sun, and as our planet reaches a particular point in its orbit around the sun, one hemisphere angles towards the sun while the other angles away from it. At this moment we are experiencing the season when our part of the globe tilts towards the sun. Right now, over this hemisphere, the sun shines brightest. A similar phenomenon is occurring at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. At our inaugural benefit gala held in the spring we declared our desire to grow. The evolution has definitely commenced: our academic offerings are expanding, our research remains cutting-edge, and we're planning to offer more public programming in the 2012-2013 academic year. It is our mission to forge ahead on the educational, scientific, and outreach fronts and continue to demonstrate why IoES is one of the brightest stars on campus. Please enjoy reading this newsletter and learning more about the Institute.
Cheers,
Karen A. Lefkowitz
