Institute Director Glen MacDonald chosen for American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) role

Dr. MacDonald will serve as Chair-Elect of the AAAS Section on Geology and Geography.

Institute Director Glen MacDonald chosen for American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) role

The American Association for the Advancement of Science is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association. In addition to organizing membership activities, AAAS publishes the journal Science, as well as many scientific newsletters, books and reports and spearheads programs that raise the bar of understanding for science worldwide.

Responsiblities during the position's three-year term include: attending business meetings, identifying opportunities for the active involvement of affiliated organizations in the affairs of the section, communicating with the editor of Science to suggest worthwhile leading articles and authors in the area of the section's concerns, and commenting to the Chief Executive Officer, Board Chair or Chair of the Committee on Council Affairs on the operations and priorities of the Assocation, including worthwhile new initaitves deserving consideration in future planning.
