The Southwest Climate Assessment Summary for Decision Makers is now available .  The full report is expected to be released in 2013.  Director MacDonald was a lead author of the assessment. This report is one component of the ongoing National Climate Assessment.  The report outlines current climate variability and change in the Southwest and projections of future climate in this century. It then discusses the potential effects of climate change on terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, coastal systems, water resources, energy, health  and other sectors. It concludes with strategies for adjusting to climate variability and climate change in the Southwest and an outline of key unknowns that remain.   The Southwest Climate Assessment was produced by the members of the Southwest Climate Science Center of which the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability is a member. The Southwest CSC delivers fundamental research findings to assist resource managers.
