UCLA H&HS awarded funds to expand recycling
H&HS has been awarded about $39,000 to expand beverage container recycling at University Village.
The California Department of Conservation grant will provide money to install over 70 beverage container recycling bins as well as funding for staff training and promotional materials. Based on University Village waste stream information and state-wide residential waste characteristics, we believe this program will divert an extra 10 tons of material from landfills every year (160 Metric Tons CO2-EQ). The volume of containers captured with this program will be tracked and reported to UA residents as well as made available on the web.
