Tapir study featured in Mexican magazine
The February 2010 Mexican science magazine, Ciencia y Desarrollo, featured an article written by Center for Tropical Research postdoctoral fellow Eduardo Mendoza Ramirez on his study of the endangered Central American Tapir.
The Central American Tapir, also known as Baird’s Tapir, is being driven to extinction as a consequence of the destruction of its habitat and over-hunting. Dr. Mendoza Ramirez’s article describes the tapir’s characteristics and habitat, his field studies to determine tapir population sizes and habitat distribution, and perspectives for tapir conservation.
