Area politicians weigh in on Obama's oil speech
Institute of the Environment Professor Matt Kahn analyzes President Obama's address on the Gulf oil spill in a San Gabriel Valley Tribune article.

"In his speech, he's talking tough, but he didn't announce that he was going to push a truly radical policy to protect our environmental assets and to change our economy. It's politically savvy, but from an environmental standpoint, it's slightly unsatisfying. If we really want these oil spills off our coast to stop, we need higher gas taxes and carbon taxes to reinvent our economy," said Professor Kahn.
