'New North' to benefit from global warming
The Chicago Sun-Times selected "The World in 2050: Four Forces Shaping Civilization's Northern Future" by IoES Affiliate Professor Laurence Smith as one of its "intriguing titles" for fall.
The book argues that as a result of climate change and other global pressures, sparsely populated Canada, Scandinavia, Russia and the northern United States will become formidable economic powers and migration magnets in the coming decades.
