The Center for Tropical Research (CTR) has posted its Spring 2011 Newsletter on the News and Updates page of its website. The biannual CTR Newsletter contains feature articles by CTR researchers, field reports from graduate students, a letter from CTR Director Thomas Smith, and updates on CTR projects, field research trips, graduate student and postdoctoral scholar activities, and donor and grant support.
The Spring 2011 CTR Newsletter features an article by Brenda Larison on the evolution of stripe variation in the African plains zebra. Her research examines the genetic basis and adaptive reasons for zebra stripes. A field report by Trevon Fuller describes efforts to pinpoint the principle animal carrier of monkeypox in the Congo Basin using remote sensing data and statistical models.
