An article in the Los Angeles Times about the potential effects of global warming on Southern California cited research by Alex Hall, associate professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and director of the Center for Climate Change Solutions at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, predicting that temperatures in the Los Angeles region will rise 4 to 5 degrees and that snowfall on local mountains will drop 30 to 40 percent by mid-century.

A piece that aired on KPCC-89.3 FM’s “Take Two” about a company that supplies environmentally friendly lighting for film and TV productions referenced a 2006 study by researchers at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability showing that the film and TV industry is a major generator of pollution in Southern California.
