In Memoriam: Dr. Pankaj Parekh, leader in water quality

Dr. Pankaj Parekh earned his doctorate from the Environmental Science and Engineering Program in 1984. As Director of Water Quality for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), he was in charge of clean drinking water for over four-million people. Dr. Parekh was very engaged with water system issues and provided leadership and guidance during his term at the Department of Water and Power. An award-winning documentary, "Today," recounts Dr. Parekh's experience after suffering a tragic accident. Faced with new, difficult challenges the film shows how he persevered with the unconditional love of his wife. Dr. Parekh passed away on January 30 from complications stemming from this accident. The Institute of the Environment and Sustainability joins the LADWP in sending its condolences to Dr. Parekh's wife Anne and other family members.
