IoES Journalism and Media Fellowships
Our IoES Journalism and Media Fellowships provide opportunities for journalists working in all kinds of media — newspapers, magazines, radio, television, online, multimedia, video, film, data visualization, mapping, and books — to visit UCLA and interact with researchers, scholars, and students, while developing or working on projects of their own designs to spur new coverage and understanding of the environment and sustainability.
The length of residence varies, typically from one to two weeks, although longer stays may be possible, particularly for projects that intersect with ongoing research at UCLA, that address significant challenges, and that explore promising new possibilities for journalism and the media on environment and sustainability. Travel and accommodation costs are covered, a modest honorarium is offered, and we may be able to provide support for development of multimedia, data visualization, and mapping applications to accompany significant stories.
There is no deadline. Timely fellowships will be awarded on a rolling basis. Short letters of inquiry — one to two pages — are welcome at any time. Please address inquiries to:
