Spring is the period commonly hallmarked by renewal and this edition of the newsletter exhibits a different design. This bulletin serves as the debut of our official logo. The upgrade represents a pivotal step for the Institute — how we define ourselves and our approach to environment and sustainability challenges.

The colors evoke the elements of nature (land, air, water, sun) as well the Bruin spirit, illustrated with vibrant blue and gold. The use of three shades symbolizes not only the pillars of sustainablity (environmental, economic, and social) but also the threefold focus of the Institute: education, research, and outreach.
In March IoES hosted An Evening of Environmental Excellence. The purpose of this annual affair is to recognize environmental leadership and share our story on a major stage — who we are, what we do, and how we are going to change the world for the better. The gala raised over $1 milllion for our academic, science, and public programs and planted a seedling that we hope will grow, prosper and enable us to expand and enhance our efforts.
Please enjoy this newsletter which features the theme of exploration — a motif that coincides freshly and fittingly with the season and spirit of moving forward into a bright and sustainable future.
