Dr. Peter Sinsheimer is the Executive Director of the UCLA Law and Environmental Health Sustainable Technology & Policy Program. The Program aims to clear the path for effective, balanced chemical policies, and to assist in the use of safer chemicals and alternative manufacturing processes in the marketplace. Prior to his current position, Dr. Sinsheimer served for twelve years as the Director of the Pollution Prevention Center at Occidental Colleges Urban and Environmental Policy Institute. Since 1998, Dr. Sinsheimer has been the principal investigator for the Environmental Garment Care Commercialization Project. Through this work, Dr. Sinsheimer has become a leading voice in the movement to establish alternatives analysis as a necessary science/policy tool to promote the innovation and diffusion of safer technologies.
Dr. Sinsheimer earned a Ph.D. and MA in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles, a Masters in Public Health degree from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
