While the full ecological impact of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico won't be known for years, engineering professor Eric Hoek is working with actor Kevin Costner’s company, Ocean Therapy Solutions, on developing centrifuges to aid in the massive task of cleaning up the oil.

"To have an idea and have it actually do some good...I'll say that it gives you a different feeling of satisfaction," Hoek says in this edition of UCLA News Week. "It's about being part of the solution."
