Silver Lining to 'Greywater'
Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and IoES Professor Yoram Cohen and engineering graduate student Zita Yu are developing 'vertical wetlands' to ease water use.
KCRW-89.9 FM's "Which Way, LA?" reported on a water-conservation system developed by researchers from the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science that filters a home's "greywater" — soapy water from sinks, showers and laundry — and pipes it out again to irrigate citrus trees and vegetable gardens. Yoram Cohen, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, and engineering doctoral candidate Zita Yu were interviewed.
